New Hokuto No Ken Online Game!

I've known about this for awhile, bit it seems we finally got some info and pictures on it. I'm excited, no doubt about that. All we know is it will be a PC title, where you will apprently create your own street thug/gang dude, and beat the shit out of people (c'mon, thats what you do!), and you need a Pentium III, and Windows 2000/XP to run it.

Sony = Whiny Baby Liars

So, Sony doesnt want you reporting rumors about their conferences or whatever. If you do, you get BLACKBALLED, yo. I report whatever I want mind you, since I dont owe Sony a damn thing.

But that's neither here nor there. I'm here to call Sony out. Back with the news about the then upcoming SIXAXIS, and it lacking rumble, Sony stated on how rumbling controllers is a thing of the past, even though we all knew it was because of their fall out with Immersion and their court case...

But now, both Sony and Immersion seem to have made amends (i.e. Sony settled out of court) and now we will be seeing rumble in future Sony Playstation products (i.e. next SIXAXIS model I'd bet).

Sony, Sony, why do you bullshit so much?

EVO 2k7.....The Battle for the World begins anew...

www.evo2k.com

The site is up and information will be posted up as soon as it hits. I'm really hoping for some SFA3 action. I've been playing the game nonstop. Good times.

Also, 'lol' @ Shade for having to buy a PSP. He did himself a horrible favor in getting one of those. It's a neat paperweight though. People see it and are like "Hey! A PSP! Can I use it?" And I promptly tell them, "No you may not. It's my official Sony SCEA paperweight." And they usually get a kick out of it until they say "Why the hate?"

And then I have them play T5DR on it and they understand. That Castlevania game has me hyped. If not just a bit. I need to finish Portrait of Ruin already and finish Phoenix Wright 1. Help me God. I'm too lazy right now. Ugh.......

In other news, I saw VF5 live, in person, last night. It's sex on a TV. You could make pancakes, read the paper, and talk to it as you eat. That's how lovely it is. I'd take that over a woman any day.

Looks like BluRay came at a wrong time....(SRK Bad Pun Squad UNITE!!!)

So, it would seem that Sony is kinda in the hole in this situation. What kind of hole you ask? Surely, not the anus. But, it would seem that this hole is filled with liquids and gases made of pure fail.

Now, if we all remember correctly(I know I don't), Sony disavowed all such things as porn on the Betamax(Who knew?). Later, we found Betamax whoring itself out for money. I would have loved to have had the priviledge to sleep with a Betamax. Just that soothing tape. Rubbing against my skin. Only to find out that it was crappy in the sack due to the inexperience of sex.

BluRay may be next to put its ass up on the market for some cheap thrills. But, with a name like BluRay, I'd rather go with blue balls.

Anyway, could this mark the end of BluRay? Could this mean that we'll be watching Evan Stone rack up the kill count on HD DVD? For those that didn't know, there is internet available on the internet. Wait. I think I'm onto something.

Think about it. The internet became something HUGE(pardon another pun) when porn was becoming more mainstream on it. Well, gee-golly-willickers, Buster. Sony going against the porn industry is a big no-no. But, we'll have to see what comes(more puns) next. It's gonna get only harder and harder for Sony to keep up.

Victorious Boxers: Fighting Spirit 2. The K.O. Review(with a link to an interview I did)

Beats me, but, I guess it was fun to be interviewed and finally be asked about one of my favorite hobbies. There are two other interviews there, but, being that none of those other guys write for this blog, I figured I'd get greedy and leave them out.

So, I've been playing a lot of Victorious Boxers 2 lately. It is a REALLY fun game. Very well done. It's probably the most fun boxing game I've ever played since the Super Punchout days. And, of course, you can't forget Mike Tyson's Punchout. Me and two other people have been rumored to beat the grumpy Mr. Tyson. Not many can say that. Not even the dudes in the pro ring that actually beat him. Consider yourself lucky, fortunate, God and some other things if you did beat him.

Anyway, the gameplay is some of the best in a boxing game ever. The left analog stick allows for all of the movement in the ring and with a simple tilt of up or down, you can go for low body shots. Double tap down or up and you'll sidestep accordingly depending on your angle in the ring. Angle, you say? Well, the game runs on a funky mechanic. It's not like the Fight Night games where it feels SLIGHTLY 2D in terms of the combat. For me, the game always felt tight around the waist. It didn't allow for a lot of free movement. In Victorious boxers 2, you're allowed a lot of that free movement. And with this game, you get that feeling of freedom. You can corner your opponent and pummel them to death and go for the K.O. or you can outbox with jabs and right-straight counters.

More about the angles: The game mechanic with the analog stick registers as a full 360 degrees of movement. Meaning, you have to rotate the analog stick from the position you're in. So, if you're player 2 and are standing on the right side of the screen, you rotate 360 degrees counter-clockwise in order to move around into the left side of your opponent. Tapping up on the analog stick lets you move forward(don't ask me how) and up/down double tapping is your sidestep. It's very unique and once you get the hang of it, the game becomes something more than just a boxing game based off a boxing anime. It becomes.....technical. Can't forget about being able to sway and duck. Tapping forward, ever so slighty, will allow you to duck and slightly back will allow swaying. So, everything in this game bases itself off of the analog stick.

And as for the buttons, you have left jab, right straight, left hook and a right hook. Square, triangle, X and circle respectively. L1 is your guard button and R1 is your special button. L2 and R2 are technique buttons. Basically, you get to do quick uppercuts during battle.

Of course, some of the moves in this game are greatly exagerrated. But, it is based off of Jyogi Morikawa's popular manga(In Japan, at least) Hajime no Ippo(Fighting Spirit to the American crowd). You have Ryuichi Hayami's Shotgun punches which is just a barrage of constant lefts and rights. No boxer can pull off such a move at such a speed. But, for the sake of the game, we'll let the imagination run wild. Some of the special moves can take away the balance of the game, some don't. Some of the moves are just ,downright , hard to nail. Hayami's Shotgun punches can be spammed, but, they take a long while to knock you out and can be countered with a low body shot. So, against the computer you're king with such a move. But, against a human player, you won't find yourself spamming it to death.

The graphics for this game shouldn't really turn you off either. Granted, it may have been a 3rd year PS2 title(I may be wrong). But, the graphics are fairly good. The character models are pretty accurate to their manga counterparts and they move pretty fluidly in combat. The only real downer is story mode. Kinda. Throughout the story mode you'll find that the game will re-use the same backgrounds over and over again. The crowd in the arenas aren't exactly the most lively either. But, since the boxing action is so intense and requires your most undivided attention, you'll find yourself giving less a damn about the backgrounds and chances are, you'll be skipping through the story mode just to get into the ring.

The only reason why I stated such a thing about the story mode is because, like myself and countless fans of the series, we've seen the anime and are currently reading the manga. So, we already know how it all goes down in the game and just want to play as our favorite characters.

And with a total of 70 boxers in this game, you'll find yourself playing over and over again. Not everyone plays the same and it takes a lot of skill to actually win in this game. The A.I. is incredible and leaves no room for error. There will be times where you'll find yourself at odds with certain opponents in the story mode. It's very tactical. And that's what I love about this game.

RUMOUR BAG: BLUE DRAGON COMING TO PS3?

Looks like Shu and company are going on a new adventure.

Due to the poor sales of Blue Dragon in Japan and the limitations of the Xbox 360's DVD9 medium, there is speculation within Mistwalker that the company will announce a PS3 port of their Xbox 360 RPG, and that future incarnations are planned as well for the platform. More on this story as news develops.

So the year will come to a close in about 9 hours....

So, now that 2006 is over it would seem that the generation of PS2's, Xbox's and Gamecube's have to a close. 2007 will usher the newest in gaming for the latest generation of consoles. The true battle for King of the NextGen begins at midnight. 2007 seem's to have a very strong lineup for all 3 consoles. Although, 3 of my favorites will, more than likely, not show up for this year. Those 3 are Gran Turismo 5, FFXIII and MGS4. Of course, like most people, I can wait. After all, the more time they spend on the game the more time it will allow for Squenix, Polyphony Digital and Konami to iron out the kinks out of these, what could be, prosperous titles.

I will be picking up my PS3 by March just for Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection and Virtua Fighter 5. Both games will keep me engrossed until Devil May Cry 4 rears its ugly head. This will definitely be a year for spending(again) when it comes to gaming.

Although, I'm praying to the greater gaming God's that the Sixaxis(spelled backwards its STILL Sixaxis) is lowered in price. $50 for a controller is just soooooooooo outrageous. Considering I go through those like a pitcher of iced tea.

But, anyway, my fingers are tiring out. It's New Year's Eve and it's time to ring in the new year with some sort of festivities. Either that, or get drunk off my ass and make an ATTEMPT at playing Victorious Boxers 2 without losing.

Have a happy new year folks and keep on reading! We'll be updating a lot more in 2007. It's gonna be a busy year. Game on!

Wii Prototype Controllers

CHEDDAR! Seriously, these are funny looking. Top left (as most people already pointed out) looks more like the actual released one. Makes me want to wait to buy a Black Wii. Haha.

Anyway, source here.

*Looks down* Megaman will soon be drinking....

Well, fuck me on a flagpole, there's a new Megaman game coming out? AND the Blue Bomber turns 20. Ah, to be 20 again. Good times. I was there 2 years ago. Horrible experience.

Anyway, I finally got the first Phoenix Wright game and I must say that it is pretty damn good. Some of the most unique gameplay I've ever come across. I will never regret this awesome purchase. Ever. Only $19.99 as well at Toys 'R Us. I'll have that finished some day.

I also got Victorious Boxers: Fighting Spirit 2 in the mail the other day. Right now I'm upto Jason Ozuma and he's kicking my ass. But, the one thing that makes this game shine is the gameplay. The controls are pretty weird because the way you move depends on your angle in the ring. So, the left analog stick REALLY means a lot to this game. The only gripe I have is the hitboxes. How big are they really? A jab hits from far distance AND you can be knocked down by a jab. It's damn well near impossible to K.O. someone in this game. The story mode is alright. It basically goes along the story of the anime and since I have yet to beat the game I have clue as to how far the story mode goes. I know Bryan Hawk is in it. And that's pretty far into the manga(Vol. 45-ish).

Other than that, it's been a pretty slow month in terms of games. Well, I do have the following to finish:

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Final Fantasy III
Phoenix Wright
Victorious Boxers 2
Final Fantasy XII

So, that's not too bad for this winter. Soon, enough we'll be ending the year in about two weeks and you may be thinking "Well, it's the end of the year, they HAVE to do a Top Ten Games of the Year post." Well, you're thinking wrong. Soooo...if it's possible, we'll let the readers vote or something and post up what you guys think are the 10 greatest games of 2006. And if not, then fuck it. Who are we to say what are the 10 best games of this year? It's all subjective anyway. I don't want our list appearing on some gay ass forum anyway.

Anyway, outward and onwards my fellow gamers. Time to soft reset and start a new day.

Mega Man Turns 20! Almost drinking age!

"Capcom is pulling out all the stops with promotional events and a campaign to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its beloved hero, Mega Man, on December 17th, 2007.

Mega Man was introduced to the world on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987 and has garnered sales of 26 million units worldwide. The hero, Mega Man, and a cast of distinct villains with their own unique personalities and powers have always held a special appeal for audiences of all ages, but most notably for a younger male audience. The Mega Man character is Capcom’s oldest character brand. In addition to video games, Mega Man has been featured in a wide range of products such as cartoons, movies, comic books, toys, and many other licensed goods.

The first commemoration comes in the form of a new Mega Man series called Mega Man Star Force. Mega Man Star Force is the first game of in the series to feature three different versions and they were released in Japan on December 14th. Capcom's website will also feature the blue hero’s anniversary logo and a special site chronicling 20 years of Mega Man history from the original game right up to Mega Man Star Force. This special site will feature design sketches from Mega Man's long history and is just one of the many events planned over the next year to celebrate Mega Man's birthday.

Capcom will continue to strive to introduce unique and universally beloved characters such as Mega Man that appeal to users of all ages."

As if we didnt get enough Mega Man! Haha, no, seriously. I enjoy alot of the titles, and its cool to see it still get so much support. Long live great series of old!

Heres some new scans for the 4th PW title. Loving the bishie Dante/Jojo-like character (no homo). This series has become extremely popular in Japan and the States. So if you'd like to see a 4th, buy the 2nd title to help convince them to bring it over.

First Tekken 5 : DR Screens

So, here we are. Besides a higher resolution, it looks to be the same game as before (sans playable Jinpachi, the Tekken 5 Boss).

According to GameWatch (source for images and info this time around), it will take up 800MB [T5:DR]. Seems interesting to say the least, and I'm sure most (including me) are happy to get a version thats more widely available, and will be on a large screen (ok, so you can find a PS3 anywhere, but I also dont own a damn 250 dollar PSP, or have access to any arcade 50 miles of my home, so shoot me).

Anyway, enjoy yer screens!

    GameStop, my enemy......Part 2

Sooooo......as some of you may have noticed, I went on this tirade yesterday about the Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin pre-order bonus that GameStop DID NOT guarantee upon the day of release. Upon calling today at 1:00 p.m. yet again, they said that the game did come with the bonus. BUT, it was for those that reserved before November 20th. So, apparently one of their employees lied to me. Which is great. More reason to hate those bastards.

But, yeah, I got it. It's nice and the CD has a total of 37 tracks on it. The stylus looks nice. But, since my DS Lite is black and the stylus is white, I think I'll use it as a toothpick. The box is alright. The picture that IGN.com used looked way better for some reason. Oh, it also comes with a game carry case. You can hold upto two DS games in there. Not too bad for those of us that want to carry more than one game(Phoenix Wright and FFIII will occupy that space).

And on the gaming side of things: Phoenix Wright is a work of art. I'm loving that game. A game that finally requires the full usage of the human brain. Or something to that extent. Still a fun and innovative game. More on that as I progress through it. Also, the pre-order for Phoenix Wright 2: Justice For All is up on GameStop's site. You get a stylus with a little screen whipe for whenever you get some human girth on it.
